The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce the 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 before the January 12 deadline. The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, will meet on January 11 to finalize the provisional squad for the marquee tournament. The announcement comes as India gears up for the tournament, which will be held in Pakistan and the UAE starting February 19.

The selection meeting will also address the fitness of key players, particularly fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Bumrah has been struggling with back spasms since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, while Shami is set to make a comeback after a long injury layoff of 417 days. The selectors will closely monitor their fitness and recovery progress before making the final decision.

Rohit Sharma is expected to retain his captaincy for the tournament, with Shubman Gill likely to continue as vice-captain. However, there are speculations about potential changes in the squad, especially with the inclusion of young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal, who might make his ODI debut.

The announcement will also include the selection of players for the upcoming white-ball series against England, which includes five T20Is and three ODIs. The selectors will consider the performances in domestic competitions like the Vijay Hazare Trophy to finalize the squad.
