MS Dhoni recently compared two of his front-line spinners, Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir with old wine, while talking about how they have proved that age is just a number and how they have matured with time.
The captain cool, who himself is 37 was very happy with the spin duo and was all praises for them after the team defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets in Chepauk on Tuesday. 38-year old Harbhajan Singh and 40- year old Imran Tahir were the top performers in the match with figures of 2/15 and 2/21 respectively.
After winning 5th out of the 6 matches they have played so far, MS Dhoni said, “Age is on their (Singh and Tahir) side. They are like old wine and they are maturing.”
“Bhajji (Harbhajan) has done well in whatever games he has played and I have fallen back upon Imran whenever needed and he has come up with good performances. Overall, the bowling unit looks good. But once we play on better and flatter wickets with smaller boundaries, we will have to see what is the best combination to play with,” he added.
Dhoni picked Tahir for some special praise, saying the South African is reliable on any track and in any situation.
” I have fallen back on Tahir and he has done the job. He has confidence in me. He also has very good flipper. He is someone who if you tell him that this is the right place to bowl on, he does it most of the times. He is someone who deceives the batsmen quite a few times,” added Dhoni.
“Not only a good leggie and a googly, but he has also got a good flipper as well. Overall he is a good and complete package,” concluded the CSK skipper.
