In major cricketing news, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned former Zimbabwe cricket director Enock Ikope for 10 years for breaching ICC’s anti-corruption code, the world cricket governing body said on Wednesday.
The ICC in a media release said that, “Ikope was bound by the Code as a result of his affiliation to the HMCA as its Chairman and to Zimbabwe Cricket as its (at the time) Director. As such, he was required to cooperate fully with ACU investigations.”

Ikope is being charged under ICC’s Article 2.4.6 and Article 2.4.7. The first article suggests refusing to cooperate with ACU’s investigation by not handing over the mobile phone and other documents demanded by the investigation committee.
The second article 2.4.7 suggests delaying and obstructing the investigation carried out by the ACU. So Ikope was banned for five years with respect to each article.
“We welcome this decision and the substantial sanction imposed on Mr Ikope which reflects the gravity of the offences,” ICC general manager (ACU) Alex Marshall said in a statement.
“Non-cooperation and obstruction of our investigations by participants to the Code are simply not acceptable and I hope this and other recent sanctions sends out a clear message to anyone involved in the sport.”
