Indian Squash star Abhay Singh, ranked 66th in the world, has won the Goodfellow Classic, a 9000 Dollar Challenger Event.

The 2024 Goodfellow Classic, held in Toronto, concluded with a thrilling final on February 25th. Top-seeded Indian player Abhay Singh cemented his dominance, claiming his second PSA Challenger Tour title of the year. His first was the JSW Willingdon, held in Mumbai last month.
SINGH DEFEATED WELSHMAN ELIOTT MORRIS TO WIN THE TOURNAMENT
Singh, ranked 66th in the world, faced Welshman Elliott Morris Devred in a close but decisive 3-0 victory (11-7, 11-9, 11-9). His impressive performance throughout the tournament included overcoming challenges from Abdelrahman Abdelkhalek in the semifinals and Maceo Levy in the quarterfinals.

Singh received a bye in the first round before facing Canada’s Elliot Hunt in the second round, where he won 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-9). He then faced France’s Maceo Levy in the quarter-finals. Levy, the sixth seed, was a tough opponent, but Singh went on to win 3-0 (13-11, 11-7, 11-3). In the semis, he faced Egypt’s Abdelrahman Abdelkhalek and won 3-1 (11-5, 6-11, 11-7, 11-6).
The Goodfellow Classic, a PSA Challenger Tour event, solely featured a men’s singles competition, attracting talented players and offering a $9,000 prize pool. This year’s edition witnessed exciting matches, culminating with Singh’s brilliant finale against Morris.

25 year old Abhay Singh has quickly become one of India’s most promising Squash stars. Born in Chennai, his journey began with national titles in the under-19 category, peaking with the coveted India and Asia No. 1 ranking. His professional career, starting in 2015, has seen him compete in over 45 PSA World Tour tournaments, achieving a career-high ranking of 61st in June 2023.

His international breakthrough came at the 2019 South Asian Games, where he bagged a team silver and an individual bronze. His consistent performance has earned him spots in prestigious leagues like the British Premier Squash League.
