The world number 13 men’s singles player in the world, Lakshya Sen jumped five spots in the most recent BWF rankings on Tuesday. Following two consecutive trips to the semifinals of the French Open SupLer 750 competition and the All England Badminton Open championships, the player’s rating increased.
Lakshya had an incredible past two weeks, finishing in the semi-finals of both competitions to gain ranking points and guarantee his spot in the competition for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
It has been noted that in both competitions, he emerged victorious over players like Anders Antonsen, Loh Kean Yew, Li Shi Feng, and Lee Zii Jia. HS Prannoy’s early withdrawals from the French Open and All England have cost him a spot, as he currently stands at world number nine.
Kidambi Srikanth and Priyanshu Rajawat have lost their ranking points and are now placed at world number 27 and world number 32, respectively. On the other hand, PV Sindhu is on the verge of entering the world’s top 10 in women’s singles and is currently ranked at world number 11.
This comes after a round-of-16 finish at the All England Badminton Open last week. In men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have retained their world number one spot despite a first-round exit in the All England. They had previously won the French Open earlier in the month.
Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto have moved up three places to become the world number 20 in women’s doubles, while Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have dropped four places to become the world number 26. The Indian shuttlers will be participating in the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament this week, alongside Lakshya, Sindhu, and Srikanth, to earn more ranking points for the Paris Olympics qualification.
