FC Barcelona icon Lionel Messi was crowned as the Best FIFA Men’s Player in the 2019 The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in Milan. However, the Argentine is still falling behind in admiration when compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, who’s fired up Serie A spell is has put him ahead of his former La Liga counterpart.

The ex Galactico, who swapped shirts with Juventus last year, has proven himself to be an indomitable force in Italy. Still maintaining peaky physical agility at the age of 34, Ronaldo netted 28 times for the Old Lady last season.

The Blaugrana skipper hasn’t fallen short of his performance either. Topping the Spanish league with 36 goals and 13 assists, the 33 year old also became the top scorer in last season’s Champions League with 12 goals to his name.

Still, Ronaldo is scoring far forward in popularity and admiration.

In a list of ‘World’s Most Admired 2019’, composed by British data analytics firm YouGov, puts the Portuguese captain in seventh place, two places ahead of Messi. Ronaldo is also the top ranking athlete, according to the list.

Check out the list below, where both the footballers score ahead of Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Elon Mask, to name a few.

Worlds Most Admired 2019. Our annual series, conducted this year in 41 countries, finds the most admired figures are:

    Woman
    1. Michelle Obama (+1)
    2. Oprah Winfrey (+1)
    3. Angelina Jolie (-2)

    Man
    1. Bill Gates (-)
    2. Barack Obama (-)

Michelle Obama tops the Woman’s list, replacing Angelina Jolie from last year, who went down to the 3rd place.

Even though both the players spent the last decade in overstated rivalry, Messi admitted that he feels Ronaldo’s absence in the league.

“Of course I miss Ronaldo, he made Real Madrid stronger,” Messi said in an interview with  Fox Sports back in May.
