Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been fined by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for diving in a league match against Colombus Crew. The LA Galaxy striker was fined a disclosed amount on the grounds of simulation.
LA Galaxy played Columbus Crew on May 8, and they aimed to move to the top of the Western Conference. But that was not to be, as they failed to win the game. Columbus Crew prevailed 3-1, and Ibrahimovic did not have the best of games.
He failed to score, as Daniel Steres got the consolation goal for LA Galaxy. Instead, he was blamed for simulation. The Swede went down in the penalty box without any contact as opposition goalkeeper Zach Steffen rushed towards him. Steffen came towards him but did not make any contact. The referee did not fall for it, and neither did the disciplinary committee.
Ibrahimovic has scored nine goals this season in nine appearances for LA Galaxy. He will return to action when LA Galaxy host New York City FC on Saturday in the MLS.
