Zeeshan Ali, a prominent figure in Indian tennis, has announced his resignation as the coach of the Indian Davis Cup team. After an impressive 11-year tenure, Ali, who took over the reins from Nandan Bal in 2013, is stepping down just a month before India’s next Davis Cup tie against Sweden in Stockholm.

Zeeshan Ali’s Tenure with Indian Tennis

India secured promotion to the World Group I after blanking Pakistan 4-0 in the play-offs in Islamabad in February. Zeeshan was not only the coach but also the captain during the historic Davis Cup tie against Pakistan in Pakistan earlier this year.

Zeeshan Ali, who represented India at the Seoul 1988 Olympics, will now shift his focus to the development of the National Tennis Centre (NTC) in New Delhi. The NTC aims to improve tennis at the grassroots level in India and foster the next generation of champions.

Zeeshan Ali’s legacy extends beyond his coaching role. As a former junior world No. 2 player and a Wimbledon Juniors semi-finalist, he brings a wealth of experience to the Indian tennis community. His dedication to nurturing talent and promoting the sport will continue through his work at the NTC.

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) is yet to announce Zeeshan Ali’s replacement as the head coach of the Indian Davis Cup team. However, his impact on Indian tennis will be remembered for years to come.
