Yuzvendra Chahal has emerged as the leading leg-spinner over the past few years and has become a pivotal part of the limited-overs Indian team. Apart from the Men In Blue, he also plies his trade for the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore under the same captain.
Chahal began his IPL career with Mumbai Indians and was part of the defending champions for two years before being picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the auction prior to the seventh season.
The spinner has now evolved to be one of the most important weapons in Virat Kohli’s arsenal. Chahal has been successful despite majorly bowling between the small boundaries at the Chinnaswamy stadium and he has also been tasked with bowling in the powerplay as well.
The 30-year-old, who is on a break at the moment given the IPL’s suspension and India’s long test tour, was recently interviewed by CricTracker where he answered a wide array of questions related to both on and off the field.
When asked which IPL franchise would he play for if not for his current team, RCB. Chahal opted to choose CSK among the seven available teams.
CSK has been one of the most successful teams for spinners to play in given MS Dhoni’s ability to use them and bring out the best in them and also the slow, dry sufrace of Chepauk.
Chahal also went onto reveal the best piece of advice the former Indian skipper ever gave him, which was ‘Believe in yourself and focus’.
After a prolific IPL 2020 in the UAE, Chahal was far from his best during the recently halted IPL despite the team getting to play a handful of matches at the Chepauk.
The other half of the famed Kul-Cha pairing, Kuldeep Yadav had recently noted the absence of MS Dhoni and how it has affected the duo.
“When Mahibhai was there, I and Chahal were playing. Ever since Mahi bhai left, Chahal and I haven’t played together. I played only a handful of games after Mahibhai left. I must have played ten-odd games. I had even taken a hat-trick.
