Yuvraj Singh issues plea for Australian bushfire crisis; over 480 million animals affected

An enormous wildfire has been wrecking havoc in Australia, and since its beginning in July 2019, it has damaged a large portion of wildlife and human properties, and is the worst that happened in the country in the last few decades. While the world is condolence to the affected, former Team India superstar Yuvraj Singh has taken a stand on Twitter.

Yesterday, the 38 year old made a tweet along with four images of the smoke and fire that has spread across the country. He paired them with a worried caption, stating the bush fire is a direct consequence of the climate change issue.

Yuvi also stated that the wildfire has ravaged the better part of 12 million acres of land, and a tragic number of 480 million animals are reported to be missing.

While the fire on the eastern coast has been under control, its intensity in the state of South Australia has reached a colossal level, especially in Kangaroo Island. There are reports of at least 18 people who have died from the fire.

Amongst the disastrious calamity, Australlia his hosting New Zealand in the ongoing test series. Aussie hitter David Warner also made a tributary post to the firefighters in service on his official Instagram.

On the start of the third test today at the Sydney Cricket Ground, all the players from both teams had decided to wear black armbands to pay homage to the firefighters and bush fire victims, and will ontinue to do so till the final day of the test on 7th January. A minute of applause to the firefighters was also observed at the SCG before the match today.

Earlier, Cricket Australia had announced that the three matches in the upcoming ODI series against the Black Caps in March will be used to raise relief fund for the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery, who are sheltering and supporting the affected at evacuation centres across the nation.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has also decided to donate to the victims and people affected by the wildfire. At the Australia Open in January, the 24 year old will be donating 200 Australian dollars, (equivalent to 139 US dollars) for each ace hit by him.
