Yuki Bhambri defeats Rohan Bopanna’s Olympic partner Sriram Balaji at the Mallorca Championship

In an exhilarating match at the Mallorca Championship, Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri and his French partner Albano Olivetti emerged victorious against the duo of N. Sriram Balaji and Luke Johnson. The intense contest unfolded during the round of 16, and Yuki and Albano showcased their skills to advance to the quarterfinals.

The match ended 6-3, 6-3 in favour of Bhambri and Olivetti, who barely broke a sweat and had things under control right from the get-go.

Sriram Balaji and Yuki Bhambri were the main contenders to partner with Rohan Bopanna in doubles at the Paris Olympics. Bopanna recommended Sriram Balaji, and the All India Tennis Association (AITA) approved his recommendation. Bhambri, however, demonstrated why he was a strong contender for being Bopanna’s doubles partner by showcasing a classy array of strokes that left his opponents with little to no answers.

Yuki and Albano’s serve rating stood at 295, while Balaji and Johnson managed 210. Yuki and Albano fired 5 aces, demonstrating their powerful serves. Balaji and Johnson committed 3 double faults. Yuki and Albano secured 86% of their first serve points, compared to Balaji and Johnson’s 63%.

The Indo-French duo defended well, saving 73% of breakpoints. Yuki and Albano’s return rating was 169, outperforming their opponents. The match concluded with Yuki and Albano winning 60 out of 100 total points.
