Indian badminton ace PV Sindhu marked a stellar beginning to her Tokyo Olympics campaign with a victory and promises to bring forth a different, new version of herself.

The 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist clinched a dominating win over 58th ranked Ksenia Polikarpova in the Women’s singles group stage, overpowering her Israeli opponent 21-7, 21-10 to mark a straight game win on Sunday.

Currently on her second Olympics appearance as well as the country’s top gold medal hopeful, Sindhu revealed that she has been working on her aggression as well as her technique in the past five years and the soft-spoken shuttler from Hyderabad will be on a different persona from now on.

“I know that I have worked hard and given all my heart all of these years and I think it’s time to show now. I’ve been working on my aggression and my technique and you will definitely see a different Sindhu,” Sindhu, seeded 6th, said after her victory.

Sindhu’s next group stage clash is against world no 34th Cheung Ngan Yi of Hong Kong.
