Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal has been hailed as a key player for India in T20I format as per former Indian cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Sunil Gavaskar. The veterans believe that Jaiswal has a significant role to play in Indian cricket in the years to come. Jaiswal is one of the most exciting young players in the world and is now a regular fixture in India’s Twenty20 international squads.
Speaking about the batter during India’s abandoned first T20I against South Africa, Gavaskar said that Jaiswal had a lot of potential and could be a long term player for India in all formats.
“The way he started off against Jofra Archer in the IPL was impressive. He is a very very good talent. Jaiswal brings the left-handedness as well in the top order. He has the freshness of not being tied down by experience. He sees the ball and hits the ball. Jaiswal is an all-format prospect for India,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
Sanjay Manjrekar, while speaking to the broadcaster, said that Jaiswal is a key batter for India if they are looking to change their approach in the T20I format.
“India can field another T20I team that can compete against other international teams and that’s basically what IPL has done. If India is looking to reinvent their approach, Yashasvi Jaiswal could be the man for India. He can do what Rohit Sharma did in the ODI World Cup 2023 for India,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports.
India is set to play in the T20 World Cup 2024, in less than 6 months after the conclusion of the ongoing South Africa series.
