In a major boost to the aspiring pro-wrestlers in India, WWE will be conducting a four day trial in Mumbai on March 2019. 40 athletes from the nation will be given the opportunity to impress WWE officials, who upon being satisfied could select the individuals at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, USA.

WWE superstar and the current Executive Vice President of WWE, Triple H confirmed the development. “India has an extremely large and passionate fan base and remains a top priority for WWE as we continue to localize content globally. I am confident this latest talent tryout will result in a world-class pool of athletes ready to pursue their dream of becoming the next WWE Superstar from India,” said the 14-time World Champion.

Athletes from diverse background like kabaddi, basketball, wrestling, combat sports, cricket, and bodybuilding will be given the chance to showcase their talent. In 2017, Haryana’s very own Kavita Devi got selected from an open trial in Dubai. She went on to compete at WrestleMania in a Battle Royale and became the first Indian female wrestler to participate in the Mae Young Classic Tournament.

WWE has held similar tryouts in the cities of Shanghai, Jeddah, Dubai, Cologne, and Santiago in the past. Let’s hope someone from the trials can become a WWE superstar in the near future.
