Wushu athlete Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh gets a standing ovation from the local crowd at the Asian Games after competing injured

It has happened for the very first time in history that an athlete from Jammu Kashmir, a moot state of the Nation produces a medal-winning player at the Asian Games.

The 22-year-old Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh confirms a Bronze medal for India after a very emotional scene, where the athlete suffered from a serious knee concussion. He got a standing ovation from the local crowd and as an act of sportsmanship, the Iranian opponent carried him off the field.

This is not the first time that Surya has made the country proud, he already won a gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games in the same category, bronze at the 2015 World Wushu Championships in Jakarta and bronze at the 2017 World Wushu Championships in Kazan in the men’s Sanda 60 kg category. It is imminent that this promising athlete will achieve greater heights in the future.
