World Snooker Championship: Pankaj Advani Enters Knockout Stage

At the World men’s snooker championship in Antalya, Turkey, star Indian cueist Pankaj Advani secured his entry into the knockout stage after emerging victorious in all of his group matches.

won the first match in group K by scoring two breaks of 64 and 51 in the second and third frames respectively to win 3-0 (62-2, 117-8, 75-15) against local star Abdurrahman Yilmaz.

As for the second game, the Indian defeated Ahmed Samir of Egypt 3-0 (57-23, 80-34, 61-22) thanks to a break of 62 in the second frame.

Marko Reijers of the Netherlands was Advani’s opponent in his third match. Even though there wasn’t any break, Advani managed to contain Marko’s scoring to clinch another 3-0 win (73-01, 78-03, 66-01).

Advani, who is coming off after securing his 25th world title last month at the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur with a victory over fellow countryman Sourav Kothari, will be back in action on Wednesday which marks the beginning of the knockout stage.
