Former India batter Mohammad Kaif feels that Indian batting ace Virat Kohli will score more consistently as he is in top form.

Kohli is one of the most successful batters of Team India. Kohli scored 85 runs off 110 balls against Australia in Chennai in the opening clash of India’s World Cup campaign.

Speaking to Star Sports, Kaif noted Kohli has been in top form and believes the former Indian skipper knows he is in great form and will score more consistently.

“If a batter scores runs in the first match and he is a player who if he has a good first match, you can check the history, then he doesn’t stop. He knows he has got form and will score consistently,” said Kaif.

Kaif stated  that Kohli’s name is already written in the stadium, so he does not need motivation. The Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi has a stand named after Kohli.

“It is a home game for him. Fans will come with banners and shout his name. His name is already written in the stadium, so he does not need motivation. The form he is in, I feel the bowlers will have great difficulties on this pitch,” Kaif added.

At the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, India opened their World Cup 2023 campaign with a valiant victory over five-time champions Australia. With India needing to score 200 runs, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood’s destructive bowling left them wobbling at 2 for 3 after 2 overs.

However, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli stitched a vital 165-run stand to take the game away from the Aussies. Kohli went on to score 85 while Rahul remained unbeaten on 97 as India chased down the target with six wickets and 52 balls in hand.

India is set to take on Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 11.
