India captain Rohit Sharma recently confirmed that Shubman Gill is almost available for the big-ticket World Cup 2023 clash against Pakistan on October 14. Shubman Gill has been sidelined. He missed India’s matches against Australia and Afghanistan due to a dengue diagnosis. Gill is recovering well and it was noted that he would be reaching Ahmedabad on Wednesday. However, his inclusion in the playing XI was doubtful for the marquee clash against Pakistan on Saturday.
Gill’s platelet count had dropped to 70,000 last week and had to be admitted to a Chennai hospital for routine medical tests and was discharged after 24 hours. It is understood that Gill, who is supremely fit, is expected to recover quicker compared to some of the others.
In a pre-match press conference, confirmed that young opener Shubman Gill is”99 percent available.”
On Thursday, Gill arrived in Ahmedabad and as per a report, he headed straight to the Narendra Modi Stadium at around 11 AM and spent over an hour practicing. He then went to the batting nets with the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) having arranged six net bowlers and a throwdown specialist for the star opener.
We will have to wait and see if Shubman Gill makes his way back into the playing XI.
