World Athletics, the international governing body for the sport of athletics, has announced a five-year global broadcasting service deal with Tata Communications. This partnership, set to commence in 2025, marks a significant milestone in the coverage of marquee events, including the Tokyo World Championships.

As the host broadcaster of World Athletics Series events, Tata Communications will play a pivotal role in crafting immersive coverage and delivering customised, world-class live content across continents. This responsibility includes producing coverage for the World Athletics Championships, which draws a global viewing audience of one billion fans.

The partnership also includes strategic initiatives to grow the sport within India. This focus aligns with Tata Communications’ commitment to leveraging its global platform to support the development of sports in its home country.

Moreover, Tata Communications will work with World Athletics to use the power of technology to enhance and progress World Athletics’ sustainability efforts. This collaboration is core to World Athletics’ future strategy, reflecting both organisations’ shared commitment to sustainable practices.

The year 2025 will feature events such as the Indoor Championships in Nanjing in March, the Relays in Guangzhou in May, and the Road Running Championships in San Diego in September. The biennial World Championships will be held from September 13 to 21 next year.
