When the ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ actor was asked who his favourite cricketer from Team India is, without missing a beat, the actor said, “Right now? Rohit.”

The speed of his response even took his co-star and friend, Ryan Reynolds, by surprise. Hugh then went on to say, “You took the cup. He was a beast.”

The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, achieved a historic feat by winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. They became the first team ever to remain unbeaten throughout the tournament’s history.

Jackman’s endorsement adds to Rohit Sharma’s growing global reputation as a formidable cricketer. The Indian team celebrated their World Cup victory with an open-bus parade in Mumbai. Passionate fans lined the streets, and the team received a warm welcome at the Wankhede Stadium, where they were honoured by the BCCI with a ₹125 crore check.

The film Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, directed by Shawn Levy, is set to hit theatres later this month, on July 26, 2024.
