Born on October 19, 1972, in Rajkot, Kotak had a prolific first-class career with Saurashtra, scoring 8,061 runs in 130 matches at an impressive average of 41.76. After retiring from playing in 2013, he transitioned into coaching and has since made significant contributions to Indian cricket.

Sitanshu Kotak’s coaching career

After retiring from domestic cricket in 2013, Kotak began his coaching journey by completing Level 1 and 2 coaching courses from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). In October 2014, he was appointed coach of the Saurashtra team, leading them to significant success, including winning the 2020 Ranji Trophy Final.

Kotak’s coaching prowess did not go unnoticed. In August 2019, he was appointed as the head coach of the India A team, succeeding Rahul Dravid, who took over as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He has also served as an assistant coach for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Lions in 2016 and as a batting coach at the NCA in Bengaluru.

Kotak also served as the head coach of the India A team and has been a batting coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. His extensive experience and successful track record have earned him the opportunity to join the Indian team as the batting coach ahead of the white-ball series against England.

The decision to appoint Kotak comes after India’s recent struggles in the Test series against New Zealand and Australia, where the batting lineup faced significant challenges. Kotak is expected to join the team before the T20I series and work on addressing the technical issues that have been troubling the Indian batsmen.
