Reportedly, a WhatsApp message from a figure of higher standing in the United boardroom is what has helped Manchester United head coach, Jose Mourinho, keep his head straight through all the turbulent waves that the multiple Premier League champions have been riding on since their worst start to a campaign began this season.

It’s the time around the first week of October when, news of Mourinho’s sacking regardless of United’s result against Newcastle on the 6th, was up and around and blowing in the air. Arguably United had taken a rough tumble and a hard fall straight to their face after what can be called as their worst start to a campaign, following a measly 4 victories off their 10 opening games of the season. Needless to say, things were not looking good in the United camp at all, and they desperately needed some saving grace, however meek and in whatever form it might be.

That’s when a WhatsApp message that read, ‘Don’t read the newspapers’ sent by higher United official to manager Jose Mourinho came to his and the club’s rescue last month. However, Mourinho would later say the reports affected his side’s focus as they went 2-0 down within 10 minutes after one of their worst starts to a game this year. But they managed to turn it around – something they have made a habit of doing time and time again, as seen in their ‘return to form’ when they came from behind multiple times in multiple areas of the world, the most recent being yesterday’s 1-2 win at Juventus in the Champions League.

It appears like Ed Woodward has never lost faith in the manager, despite what many will claim Woodward not fully backing Mourinho in the transfer market in the summer after handing him a new deal earlier this year.
