WBC Asia Welterweight title holder Neeraj Goyat beats Mexican Carlos Lopez Marmolejo in Canada


WBC Asia welterweight titleholder Neeraj Goyat (10-3-2, 2 KOs) comfortably beat Mexico’s Carlos Lopez Marmolejo (9-6-1, 5 KOs) at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, Canada.

Goyat who is promoted by Lee Baxter promotions fought for the second time in Canada. This was his first fight of 2018 and he now comfortably riding on a two-fight winning streak. In his last fight, he beat another Mexican Ernesto Cardona Sanchez (3-6-0, 3 KOs) at the Shawn conference center in Edmonton.

Goyat beat Carlos comfortably on the judges’ scorecard with all the three judges scoring the bout as 60-54, 60-54, 60-54 in favour of the Indian boxer.

Goyat who is currently ranked No. 1 in India has a long way to go before he can challenge for the world title. He made his prime time television debut in India back in 2017, when he was able to showcase his talents to the millions of people live on the undercard of superstar Vijender Singh vs  Zulipikaer Maimaitiali.
