Amidst the news of ex England captain and Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney’s surprising comeback to England, Welsh manager Dean Saunders has suggested Liverpool should make a run for him.
In a podcast with former Scottish footballer and broadcaster Alan Brazil in talkSPORT’s ‘The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast’ show, the Welshman stated that he believes the 2019 UEFA Champions League champions should make an attempt for the 33 year old striker beforehand Derby seals the deal.

Reds boss Jürgen Klopp has kept his Champions League winning squad unchanged for the upcoming season, and also stated earlier that his players need to get ‘addicted’ to glory.
However, the former Wolves manager believes the German gaffer should go ahead and try to land Rooney at Anfield.
“I was even thinking, it crossed my mind, if he’s fit and he’s hungry, you know who need that type of player? Liverpool.” the 55 year old Welshman said.
“They could do with someone who can play in midfield and turn defence into attack, hit defence-splitting passes and score goals.” he added.
The DC United forward was seen arriving at London today morning to have his medical for Derby County, as the owner Melvyn Morris is is desiring Rooney to become a player cum coach at Pride Park.
Rooney has made an impressive impact in MLS last season, scoring 23 goals in 43 appearances for the Washington based club, and is ready to comeback to English football, where his career spun over 16 years.
