Liverpool took on Newcastle at Anfield this weekend and though the game looked comfortable for Liverpool, there were moments which were unpleasant for them.
Firstly, Newcastle thorugh left back Jetro Willems got the early lead.
Later, Joel Matip was brought done in the box and referee refused to point to the spot. All eyes were on VAR which surprisingly didn’t show up eventhough the African had appealed.
“It’s a subjective decision,” explained former Premier League referee Peter Walter, speaking on BT Sport.
“But down the Kop end? [Yes] I would have given it.”
Co-commentator and ex-Anfield favourite Steve McManaman agreed, saying: “Yes there’s contact. You can clearly see there’s contact.”
Sadio Mane was in red hot form found the net twice and sealed the game for Liverpool, maintaining their perfect record in all the 5 games so far.
