Arsène Wenger arrived at Old Trafford with his squad that featured the likes of Robin van Persie, Andrey Arshavin, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey, while the Red Devils had Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Nani and Patrice Evra, to name a few.
The destruction of the Arsneal lineup started in the 22nd minute as Welbeck opened up the scoreline with a flick of his head, soon followed by a mouth watering curl into the net by Ashley Young. The young but agile David de Gea under the United crossbar made a remarkable save against van Persie’s penalty kick. Walcott managed to net one in during first half’s injury time.
The Devils talisman Rooney, scored two goals, both of them from two breathtaking free kicks. Moments after, Nani made it 5-1 with a volley, making a fool out of Gunners keeper Szczęsny.
Park Ji-Sung fired one in from the box in the 70th minute, just 4 minutes before Arsenal’s final goal of the match by van Persie, making the scoreline 6-2.
Finally, Rooney made his hat trick from the spot in the 82nd minute, and Young did his brace one minute into injury time of the second half.
