Sachin Tendulkar was recently asked about any present cricketer that he could relate himself with, and Team India’s hall of fame chose Labuschagne to be the one. Remembering the 25 year old’s brilliant performance in the Ashes last year, Tendulkar specifically praised the young Aussie’s footwork.

“His footwork is so precise. So he would be the one I would say,” Tendulkar told reporters.

Earlier today, Cricket Australia’s digital content team cricket.com.au uploaded a video on their official Twitter handle, where Labuschagne was asked about his reaction to Tendulkar’s comments. Following the news of himself getting applaud from none other than the Little Master, Labuschagne was overwhelmed about it. Check it out below-

“It was pretty amazing, it’s one that definitely when I saw it I was quick to read it and it really hit me. Amazing words from someone of that calibre. I was very grateful for his words and just stoked really,” Labuschagne said in the clip.

Since his debut in Red ball cricket back in 2018 against Pakistan, Labuschagne has maintained a stunning consistency in the format. With 14 international appearances in Test cricket, the young all rounder has scored a total of 1459 runs with a batting average of 63.43, which includes four centuries and eight half centuries, along with 12 wickets.

The brilliant Test records and an amazing 353 run haul in the 2019 Ashes earned Labuschagne his first limited overs debut against India in the January ODI series. He scored 46 and 54 runs in the second and third ODIs respectively. Despite the Aussies losing the series 2-1 to the hosts, Labuschagne sealed his no. 4 position in the batting order comfortably.

Currently leading the top scorers list of the ICC World Test Championships, Labuschagne will be seen in action in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa starting on 29th February.
