The footballing world knows very well about Serie A and its share of xenophobic fans. Racial abuse monkey chants, object throwing- these are a common sight in the Italian league, and most of the time its they players of colour that are victimized. Well, the same has happened at the heart of England, as Manchester City fans have performed every condemnable action you expect to see in Italy, and Manchester United’s midfielder Fred is the victim!

Last night’s Manchester Derby at the Etihad Stadium saw a 2-1 victor for the visitors as Solskjær and his side are doing their best to get back into the title race. Considering the past match days, the Citizens expected an easy win. Instead, they not lost three solid points behind Liverpool FC and Leicester City, the road to the League trophy has become more difficult for Pep Guardiola.
Well, the home supporters did not receive this nicely at all.
By the 60th minute, as United midfielder Fred went up to take a corner kick, some projectile objects like water bottles and lighters were thrown at the Brazilian. Unfortunately, one lighter struck Fred in the the back of Fred’s neck. The 26 year old was at visible pain, and left the spot temporarily.

The City fans did not just stop there. As Fred started going back to the corner flag, monkey chants and “black b*****d” shourts from the stands were seen targeted at him and his teammate Jesse Lingard.

Well, did you think the home supporters stopped there? No, and what they did next is horrible and a reminiscent of a dark episode of their rival’s past. One fan in a black jacket was seen mimicking an aeroplane- reminding United about the 1958 Munich air disaster, where 23 of United footballer died in a crash during takeoff from the Munich-Riem Airport.

The Red Devils took the lead thanks to a successful conversion of penalty spot kick by Marcus Rashford on 23rd minute. 6 minutes later Anthony Martial made it 2-0. However, in the second half, the City fans started their crazy acts. A late goal from Nicolás Otamendi at the 85th minute made the final score 2-1.
