Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has signed the most lucrative deal in the history of sports, he has signed a 5-year, 11-fight deal which will net him a minimum of $365 Million on newest sports streaming platform DAZN.
Canelo Alvarez is the biggest star in Boxing right now and his last three fights have netted well over a million buys. His contract with HBO ended earlier this month and both him and Golden Boy have moved their stable to DAZN. Oscar De La Hoya has signed a 10-year deal with them which will allow GBP to put 10 high-quality cards a year.
The deal is definitely a game changer for Canelo fans as they don’t have to pay expensive $85 to watch him fight. Boxing and fight fans, in general, will be getting quality boxing and MMA fight nights for just $9.99/month.
To make this deal a success, DAZN has been rolling out aggressive advertisements on Social media and during prime time NFL ad slots. One such ad involves Canelo Alvarez and Hall of Fame ring announcer Michael Buffers.
It’s time to say goodbye to Pay-per-view 👋

New contender for most obnoxious commercial of all time: That DAZN commercial with Michael Buffer yelling RUMBLEEEEEEERRRR for a solid 15 uninterrupted seconds. (What the hell even is DAZN, by the way?)

I will now never order a fight on @DAZN_USA after that Michael Buffer / Canelo commercial. Brutal.
— Michael Toms (@Michael_Toms) November 22, 2018
It’s safe to say, fans are not very happy or thrilled about this new DAZN commercial. Given the budget and spending power they have, I am sure they could have done better.
