Atlético Madrid’s 2-0 away victory against Lokomotiv Moscow last night saw probably one of the greatest track backs ever in the game- as seven of Diego Simeone’s boys picked up the pace to defend against Lokomotiv’s counter. Absolute brilliance.

In the Champions League Group D face off against the Parovozy at the Lokomotiv Stadium, the crowd rallied up their voices as seven Atlético men caught up to the home team’s break in a counter attack.

As you can see, the Russians attempted to catch their opponents off guard in a counter, just seconds before seven Rojiblancos outfield players surrounded the opposition attacker. A result of top level work rate.
The players and Simeone himself were bundled with praise on social media, as several tweets were emerging on the amazing defensive tactics of the 49 year old Argentine gaffer.
The first half of the game ended goalless, before the Portuguese attacker João Félix opened up the scoreline for the away side in the 48th minute. Midfielder Thomas Partey netted in the second one 10 minutes later, securing the victory for the La Liga giants at Moscow.
Atlético are now in second position in Group D, behind leaders Juventus in goal difference. They are facing Bayer Leverkusen in their next Champions League match at the Wanda Metropolitano on 22nd October.
