With the sport now aiming towards the youth, Darren Stevens made the world take notice of what age brings to the table with a record-breaking performance against Yorkshire. Stevens became the second-oldest player to ever record a double century and a five-wicket haul in the same match.

While Headingley just witnessed a masterclass in the form of Ben Stokes’ sensational hundred to level the series, the crowd of Leeds were awarded another one by Darren Stevens during the County Championship match between Kent and Yorkshire.

The 43-year-old scored a double hundred in the first innings to steer the side to 482-8, who were once reeling at 22-4. The veteran had Sam Billings in company who managed to chip in with a ton as well. Making easy work of the opposition over the course of the game. Kent set a mammoth target of 550 in the fourth innings.

Stevens showed his prowess with the ball as well as the medium-paced seamer proceeded to demolish Yorkshire with a new ball spell of 4-12. The all-rounder managed to add one more to his tally to achieve the unique feat.

Kent eventually dismissed the side for a paltry 117 to register a victory by 433 runs. The margin marks their fourth-ever largest victory in terms of runs in the County Championship.
