Fingers crossed: SRH skipper David Warner touches upon Mitchell Marsh’s injury

13th edition of Indian Premier League has started with a bang where Royal challengers Bangalore started their journey with a 10-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, Hyderabad got a big blow alongside losing the game as their all-rounder Mitchell Marsh sustained an ankle injury during the game.

When Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him in the Indian Premier League auctions in 2019, many thought he could be the game-changer as well. Marsh is a fast-bowling all-rounder with a big hitter with the bat.

After getting the injury, he had to go off the field and somehow it cost SRH their game as well. Marsh, who was in a top form during the One Day International series against Australia and helped them win over England earlier this month, has turned his right ankle while trying to stop a drive from his national teammate Aaron Finch after bowling his second ball as well.

However, the pace-bowling all-rounder could manage two more balls before going off from the field. He even faced one ball at number 10 before getting out as Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a 10-run loss to Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“Doesn’t look great,” his captain and Australia teammate David Warner said in a TV interview.

“A lot of courage from him to walk out there and try his best, but it was unfortunate tonight. He’s got to get an X-ray, hopefully, it’s not too bad. Obviously, what you saw out there, it was quite painful, he can’t put any weight on it. Fingers crossed,” he further added.

This year’s Indian Premier League was earlier scheduled to begin in March in India but due to global pandemic COVID-19, it could not take place and now it is being played in the United Arab Emirates due to the pandemic. However, Mitchell Marsh thought of having a good season in Dubai before he returns to Australia and prepares for the much-awaited home test series against India as well.
