‘Lala Siraj sabko start se hi laga denge’: Virat Kohli’s leaked presser comments leave fans guessing

Team India are soon set to depart for England to play the highly-anticipated finals of the World Test Championship against New Zealand. Prior to leaving, skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri appeared in a virtual press conference to address rumours and queries.

‘Lala Siraj sabko start se hi laga denge’: Virat Kohli's leaked presser comments leave fans guessing

While the flamboyant duo discussed their chances in the final and covered the basic aspects, a leaked audio footage where Kohli is heard discussing tactics with the coach has gone viral.

The duo were apparently unaware that the press conference had gone live which resulted in the leak.

In the short clip, the skipper seemingly suggests handing the new ball to the duo of Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj to counter the left-handers in the Blackcaps top order.

‘hum inko round the wicket dalwayenge, Left handers hai inpe, Lala Siraj sabko start se hi laga denge.” Kohli says

Ravi Shastri seems to be in agreement with the captain’s approach as he nodded and replied, ‘hmm’.

The inclusion of Mohammad Siraj in the playing eleven brings in several questions regarding the team combination.

If India does decide to play with the workhorse pacer, it may result in Ishant Sharma or one of the spinners missing out of the playing eleven. Despite India’s batting resources, it is highly unlikely that they will take the field in Southampton with six bowlers.

It would be interesting to see how many spinners they opt to feature in the lineup with the match taking place in a venue that is one of the best in the country for spin.

Ishant Sharma did not feature in India’s tour to Australia but proceeded to contest in all four tests against England at home. The veteran pacer, however, was injured once again ahead of 2021 IPL and returned back to the lineup to play the last three games before the season got suspended.

Mohammad Siraj, on the other hand, emerged as one of the most improved players in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He also had an eventful debut tour in Australia.

With the spots of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami being sealed in the vowling unit, It is now to be seen how the rest of the bowling combination is panned out with experience, robust energy and versatility all on display here.
