The Indian test captain Virat Kohli is on the verge of completing 1000 runs against South Africa in test cricket and he will join a list of legends which has Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. The Indian skipper currently stands at 758 runs in 9 test matches and needs 242 runs to become the fourth Indian to score 1000 or more runs against the Proteas.
The list topped by the Indian Legend Sachin Tendulkar who scored 1741 runs from 25 test matches and is followed by the destructive opener Vireder Sehwag who scored 1306 runs in 15 tests and which includes a triple-century against South Africa in 2008 at Chennai. The list also has Rahul Dravid who has scored 1252 runs in 21 tests. The India skipper who led the Indian team to a series victory against South Africa in 2015 and who salvaged a victory when India traveled to the African nation after losing the first two test matches by close margins.
India will play three test matches against the South Africans witht the first test match starting on Wednesday at Vizag and which will be followed by Pune and Ranchi. India is also looking to go in with a different opening pair as Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal will open the innings and Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhimann Saha will make a comeback to test team.
Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Kuldeep and Umesh Yadav will be warming the bench for the Vizag test.
