Virat Kohli’s batting skills undoubtedly are regarded as exceptional by the world, however, his captaincy tactics have often come under scrutiny at various instances. Kohli is the successor of MS Dhoni who is considered to have one to the best cricketing brains in the world and the only captain to win all the ICC trophies. Hence, it is evident that comparisons will be drawn between the two.

Kohli is nonetheless a few notches below Mahendra Singh Dhoni in terms of captaincy, feels Dhoni’s childhood coach Keshab Ranjan Banerjee.

It has been observed during the end overs, it is Dhoni who takes chare of the field while Kohli is guarding the boundaries in the deep.

“In terms of reading the match and building strategies, Dhoni remains to be unmatchable. Even Kohli doesn’t have that acumen. Kohli still has Dhoni if he seeks advice. If Dhoni would not have been part of the Indian set-up, there would be no one to assist him. Virat still needs time as captain and advice from Dhoni could be effective,” Banerjee told the press during the of the summer season camp release of MS Dhoni Cricket Academy Clinic.

India is all set to take on South Africa to commence their World Cup campaign on the 5th of June. Speaking about the concern for No.4 batting position, Banerjee feels that Dhoni is the batsman that fits the bill for the No. 4 spot, and all the other batsman can play around him depending on the situation.
