India captain Virat Kohli is all set to return to the international cricket with the upcoming series against England. He last featured in the first Test against Australia in Adelaide last month before he returned home to be with his wife, Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child following the grant of his paternity leave. In his absence, stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane led India in the final three Tests and secured a historic series win as well.

But now Team India are ready to host England in a four-match Test series as well as in the limited-overs series following that. And, Kohli is ready to resume his captaincy duties as well from the series opener, which is slated to begin from February 5th. However, he is on the verge of joining the elite list as he could surpass Clive Lloyd in his next Test as well.

With 5,220 runs as Test captain in his name, Virat Kohli is just 14 runs away from surpassing Clive Lloyd’s total runs and becoming the 4th highest run-scorer as a captain in the longest format of the game. Apart from Kohli and Lloyd, the other players in the list are Graeme Smith (8,659), Allan Border (6,623), and Ricky Ponting (6,542).

India will be playing a four-match Test series, five-match Twenty20 International series and three-match One Day International series against England as well. Both the teams have already reached Chennai where the first two Tests will be played before the series will shift to Ahmedabad and Pune.

Meanwhile, Burns, pace bowler Jofra Archer, and all-rounder Ben Stokes who were not part of the series in Sri Lanka have arrived earlier in India and successfully served their quarantine period as well. Even, after that, they have started training at Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday for the upcoming series.
