Virat Kohli is not the same person after Captaincy, fame and power: Amit Mishra makes shocking revelations

Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has recently shared intriguing insights about the contrasting paths taken by two cricketing stalwarts: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Mishra, who played alongside Kohli in international cricket, highlighted the significant changes he observed in Kohli’s behavior as his career progressed. Mishra opened up while speaking to YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra on his show.

Amit Mishra talks about Virat Kohli’s behaviour

Kohli burst onto the scene with immense talent and passion. His aggressive style and unwavering commitment made him a force to be reckoned with. Mishra recalls the young Kohli who loved samosas, craved pizza every night, and had a hunger for success.

Kohli’s journey took a pivotal turn when he assumed captaincy responsibilities. As he gained fame and power, Mishra noticed a transformation. The once-relatable Cheeku (as Kohli is affectionately known) evolved into a more distant figure. Mishra candidly admitted that their equation changed, and they almost stopped talking.

In contrast, Rohit Sharma remained remarkably consistent. From their first meeting to the present day, Rohit’s nature remained unchanged. Amit Mishra admires Rohit’s stability and authenticity, emphasizing that Rohit is the same person regardless of circumstances.

“I won’t lie. As a cricketer, I respect him a lot, but I don’t share the same equation with him as I used to. Why does Virat have less friends? His and Rohit’s natures are different. I’ll tell you the best thing about Rohit. When I met him the first day and when I meet him today, he is the same person. So will you relate to him more or with someone who changes according to situation?” Mishra said.

Mishra believes that Kohli’s fame altered his perception of people around him. He suspects that Kohli now views interactions as having ulterior motives. Mishra, however, asserts that he was never one of those seeking favors. His relationship with Kohli shifted, reflecting the impact of fame and power.

“I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those. I have known Cheeku since the time he was 14, when he used to eat Samosas, when he needed Pizza every night. But there is a huge difference in the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli, the captain. Whenever he meets me, he is very respectful, but it’s obviously not the same anymore,” Mishra added.

Kohli’s recent retirement from T20Is after India’s World Cup victory marked a significant milestone. His on-field achievements remain remarkable, but off the field, the Cheeku Mishra knew has evolved into the formidable Virat Kohli, the captain.
