Virat Kohli led Team India have lost the third T20I against England and came on the verge of losing the series as well. However, he was not quite happy with the body language of his players in the second half of the game and the India captain Virat Kohli too was a part of it. Kohli’s fitness impressed an entire generation and it is quite impossible to believe that he could make any disaster on the field.

However, despite being one of the best athletes on the field, Kohli’s catching has come under the scanner. It was in December last year when Virat Kohli put down an easy catch of Matthew Wade against Australia in a T20I in Sydney. And on Tuesday, he failed to grab the catch of Jos Buttler when he was batting on 76.

Buttler reverse-swept leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, and Virat Kohli, who was at fielding at the backward point, moved quickly to his right, but failed to grab it. And, with this, Kohli has registered an unwanted fielding record as it was Kohli’s sixth dropped catches in T20I cricket since 2019, surpassing England all-rounder Chris Jordan (5) – which is the most by a fielder from a Test-playing nation as well.

It is also noteworthy that, behind Kohli and Jordan, the No. 3 slot belongs to Australia’s Steve Smith who has left 4 catches. On the other hand, Virat Kohli also has the second-least number of catches among the four players as he took nine whereas Jordan leads the chart with 15 successful catches as well, followed by Steve Smith’s 11.

Notably, Kohli’s worst drop catches came during the Indian Premier League 2020 in September last year in the UAE. During a match against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Kohli, being the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, dropped KL Rahul twice in two overs – both were fair and easy chances as well which gave Rahul ample time and opportunity to score a blistering century as well.
