Virat Kohli-led Team India were unable to win the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against New Zealand on Wednesday. He had then dropped hints about bringing in “right people with right mindset to perform” in the Test side to ensure the success like the limited overs format of the game.
Virat Kohli wants to shuffle the Test squad
The skipper noted how some players did not show enough intent to score runs and that caused them to deal with the pressure. The ace batter Cheteshwar Pujara was only able to score 8 runs off 54 balls in the first innings and had scored the first run after 35 balls. Eventually he was able to put up just 15 runs off 80 balls in the second innings.
In the post match virtual conference, he said: “We will continue to reassess and continue to have conversations around what are the things required to strengthen our side and not follow or fall prey to certain patterns.”
“We will not wait for a year or so and have to plan ahead. If you see our white ball team now, we have great depth and guys are ready and confident. Same thing needs to be done with Test cricket.”

Kohli noted that they “have to reassess and replan and understand what dynamics work for the team and how we can be fearless.” He also dropped hints about bringing in the right people who have right mindset to perform.
Virat Kohli also opened up on scoring the runs slowly and said they need to work on the plans to score more runs. India had scored only 217 in the first innings and bundled out for 170 runs in the second innings.
On the reserve day, The Kiwis completed the run chase of 139 runs at the expense of two wickets and it was enough to win the inaugural WTC Mace.
