Vinesh Phogat’s build-up for the Paris Games

Vinesh Phogat’s impressive performance earned her an Olympic quota in the women’s 50kg category. She secured this quota by defeating Kazakhstan’s Laura Ganikyzy with a dominant 10-0 victory in the women’s 50kg semifinal at the Asian Olympic qualifiers.

Vinesh’s journey to this victory was marked by challenges. She received her Schengen visa at the last minute, allowing her to participate in the Grand Prix of Spain. Her preparation included three convincing wins leading up to the final.

In the final, Vinesh faced Mariia Tiumerekova, a former Russian wrestler now competing as an Individual Neutral Athlete. Vinesh’s skill and determination secured her the gold medal. After her successful stint in Spain, Vinesh will continue her training in France for a 20-day preparation ahead of the Paris Games.

Vinesh Phogat’s victory not only warms her up for the Olympics but also showcases her resilience and determination on the international wrestling stage. As she heads to Paris, all eyes will be on her as she aims for further glory in the world’s most prestigious sporting event.
