Most of the Indian coaching staff contingent will part ways with the team following the culmination of the ongoing T20 World Cup. The likes of Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar are unlikely to reapply to retain their posts.

Ravi Shastri is expected to take a break from cricket altogether while the rest are on the lookout to ply their trades in the IPL. With Rahul Dravid and Paras Mhambrey being the front runners for the positions of the head coach and bowling coach.

Rathour was briefly in contention to be the head coach of the side, but with Rahul Dravid seemingly available, he is in the mix to be the batting coach.

Vikram Rathour was the last name to join the current coaching setup after Sanjay Bangar was not retained for the role. As a result, he has reapplied for the role. He termed the experience of working with the current crop of players as a great opportunity and hopes to do more if his role with the Indian team is extended further. He said to Cricbuzz:

“The experience has been great. It has been a great learning experience. It’s great to work with a team of such highly motivated and skilful players,”

So, it has been a good experience. Going forward, I’ve already applied for the batting coach’s job. If I get that job, there’ll be a lot of work to be done. We will take it as it goes.”

The board are likely to accept Rahul Dravid’s application for the post of head coach. They were keen on recruiting an Indian for the role after Ravi Shastri. While the former cricketer had initially declined the opportunity to coach the team, he has apparently changed his mind and will leave his position as the head of the NCA.

VVS Laxman is being touted to take Dravid’s place at the NCA while Dravid takes on the role of the head coach of the national side. He had briefly led the team as an interim coach during the team’s tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year.
