In the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24, Vikram Partap Singh, a young talent from Chandigarh, made history by becoming the first Indian to score a hat-trick. This remarkable feat was achieved during a match between Mumbai City FC and NorthEast United FC.
The match, held at the Mumbai Football Arena, saw Mumbai City FC outplay NorthEast United FC with a score of 4-1. Vikram’s hat-trick was instrumental in this victory, propelling Mumbai City FC to the top of the ISL 2023-24 points table.
How did Vikram Partap Singh get his hat-trick?
Vikram Partap Singh opened the scoring in the third minute of the match. He received a lobbed pass from Yoell van Nieff, broke away from the defence on the right side of the box, controlled the ball on his chest, and slotted it past the onrushing goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh.
He doubled his tally in the tenth minute. Bipin Singh attempted a powerful long-range shot that crashed off the crossbar. However, Vikram was well-positioned to head home the rebound, catching the goalkeeper off position.
Vikram completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute. Lallianzuala Chhangte played a low cross from the right, which Vikram hit first-time from close range to score. This hat-trick not only marked a personal milestone for Vikram but also boosted Mumbai City FC’s position in the league.
