India’s rising squash sensation, Velavan Senthilkumar, secured his eighth Professional Squash Association (PSA) tour title by winning the Batch Open Challenger event in Paris, France on April 29, 2024. The 26-year-old Velavan displayed remarkable skill and determination throughout the tournament, culminating in a convincing victory in the final.

In a high-stakes showdown, Velavan faced off against World No. 158, Melvil Scianimanico. The French player put up a strong fight, but Velavan’s precision and agility proved decisive. The crowd witnessed intense rallies, strategic shot placements, and unwavering focus from both players. Ultimately, Velavan emerged victorious, claiming the title with a straight-game win. The top seed, beat Frenchman Melvil Scianimanico 11-6, 11-9, 11-6 to clinch the title.

After clinching the title, Velavan expressed his satisfaction with the victory: “Melvil played really well, and there was a lot of crowd support for him as well. I had to be sharp from the start till the end, and I’m glad I could do that.”
Senthilkumar’s performance demonstrated his determination, preservance and ability to compete at the highest level of the sport. With precise shots and strategic gameplay, he dominated his opponent from start to finish, securing his spot in the semifinals. In the semifinal, he displayed his tremendous tenacity against Jakub Solnicky to win the match 11-5, 11-6, 11-2 in just 37 minutes to reach the final.
