The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, set to begin on October 6, 2024. This announcement has brought exciting news for cricket fans, as it marks the return of mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and the maiden call-up for fast bowler Mayank Yadav.

Varun Chakravarthy’s Comeback

Varun Chakravarthy, who last played for India in the T20 World Cup 2021, has made a remarkable comeback to the national team. Known for his unique bowling style and ability to deceive batsmen, Chakravarthy has been a standout performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Over the past two seasons, he has consistently delivered impressive performances, picking up 20 wickets in 2023 and 21 wickets in 2024.

Mayank Yadav’s Maiden Call-Up

The inclusion of Mayank Yadav in the T20I squad is another highlight of the announcement. The 22-year-old fast bowler has been a revelation in the IPL 2024, consistently clocking speeds of over 150 km/h. Playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Yadav impressed everyone with his fiery pace and wicket-taking ability.

He picked up seven wickets in four matches at an average of 12.14 and an economy rate of 6.98 before an injury cut short his season. His performances earned him the Player of the Match award twice in his debut IPL season, making him a promising addition to the national team.
