Parupalli Kashyap was beaten by the World no 1 Kento Momota with a margin of 13-21 15-21 in the semifinal of Korea Open BWF Super 500 tournament. Kashyap was brilliant through out the whole tournament; but the challenge of Kento Momota was too much for him. In the final of the Korea Open, Kento Momota will meet against the World number 2 Tien Chen Chou.
Parupalli Kashyap should be proud of his performance in the Korea Open. His fellow Indian players were out of the equation of the tournament in the first round. Only Parupalli Kashyap kept the hope alive for India in Korea Open. Kashyap was brilliant through out the whole tournament and his confidence level will be boosted up with performance.
Kashyap tried to go for big rallies against World number one in the semifinal. However, Kento Momota took only 40 minutes to go to the final of this tournament. After the end of Korea Open, it is thought that Kashyap will be back in the race of Olympic qualification. Kidambi Srikant and Sani Praneeth are now at the top of the ranking among the Indians. Kashyap has to be into the top two rankers of India by 30th April, 2020 to qualify for the Olympics.
