VAR hasn’t been the most affable topic for footballers. Since its approval and implementation from the last FIFA World Cup, several players, managers, pundits and fans have taken a firm stand against it, as its becoming a subject of controversy regarding goals and referral decisions. However, Ruben Aguilar just went physical on it.
The Ligue 1 fixture at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard saw a 1-0 victory for the hosts, as the game’s lone goalscorer Denis Bouanga was charged by Aguilar, and the decisive video assistance got the 26 year old marching orders from referee Jérôme Brisard, to the utter surprise and angst of the Frenchman, taking it out on a monitor and hasting down the tunnel.

Les Monégasques gaffer Leonardo Jardim opened up to reporters in the post match interview.
“It is a balanced match, so, who has given the victory? The referee, of course… It is incredible, despite all the mechanisms in place in France,” the 45 year old Portuguese spoke to Canal+.
“Anyone on TV could have seen that. 99 per cent of people think the same thing and nobody among the people whose job this is says anything.” he added.
Thanks to Bouanga’s 59th minute score, Les Verts are now 8th in the league table with18 points, as Monaco are trailing behind 3 points but down in 15th.
