Former Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt recently revealed the footballing trio he wishes to compete alongside on the track, and they are none other than Kylian Mbappé, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo!
The 33-year-old was approached by FIFA.com recently for an interview, where the three-time Olympic Gold medalist was asked several questions regarding the upcoming The Best FIFA Football Awards event to be hosted on 23rd September.
Nicknamed ‘Lightning Bolt’, the Jamaican revealed three footballers he would like to compete alongside on a 4 × 100 meters relay track, where Bolt currently holds the record of 36.84 seconds.
“Ronaldo, Mbappé and Gareth Bale.” the 6ft 5in sprinter said.
All three footballers that Bolt named, are renowned for their blistering speed on the field. Bale and Mbappe, both of whom are wingers in Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain respectively, are famous for their rapid pace. Ronaldo, although playing as a striker for Juventus, was recorded as the fastest footballer on the pitch at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where the Portuguese clocked a top speed of 34 km/h.
A fan of English giants Manchester United, Bolt himself tried his luck on the footballing field with Norwegian side Strømsgodset Toppfotball and Australian club Central Coast Mariners FC. He also captained the Soccer Aid World XI in 2018 against England at Old Trafford.
