Urvil Patel has been making waves in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 with his extraordinary batting performances. Just days after becoming the fastest Indian to score a T20 century, Patel followed up with a stunning 36-ball century against Uttarakhand on December 3, 2024.

Urvil Patel’s dominance continues in SMAT

In the match held at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore, Patel remained unbeaten at 115 off 41 balls, leading Gujarat to an 8-wicket victory in just 13.1 overs. His innings included 11 sixes and 8 fours, showcasing his ability to decimate any bowling attack. This remarkable achievement comes just six days after his record-breaking 28-ball century against Tripura, making him the first batter in T20 cricket history to notch up two centuries in fewer than 40 balls.

Patel’s explosive batting has certainly caught the attention of cricket fans and experts alike. Despite being unsold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, Patel has chosen to let his bat do the talking. His recent performances have been a testament to his skill and determination, and he has become a key player for Gujarat in the SMAT 2024.

With five wins from six matches, Gujarat tops the Group B table, and Patel’s contributions have been instrumental in their success. His ability to score quickly and consistently has made him a standout performer in the tournament.

Patel’s journey has been inspiring, especially after being part of the Gujarat Titans squad in the previous IPL seasons. Despite the setback of not being picked in the IPL 2025 auction, he has remained focused on his game and continues to excel. His admiration for India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav has also played a role in his development as a cricketer.
