KL Rahul is undoubtedly one of the most skilled talents out there amongst Indian batsmen. He had a significant hype behind him when he started out in International cricket. The fans, cricket board were convinced he was the next batting star of Indian cricket team.
But things haven’t been going great for the Indian top order since the South African tour. Rahul is averaging just 24 in 18 Test innings he has played in 2018. Not only has been his performance declined in the test, but he has also performed horribly in T20s too.
In recent Australian tour, he has averaged a meagre 13.50 while his strike rate is also under 100. Today in the third T20 match, Rahul scored 14 runs in 20 balls before getting out to Glenn Maxwell.
Former Captain of the Indian cricket team also criticised the team’s decision to send KL Rahul ahead of Kohli in the past two T20 matches against Australia in the ongoing tour.
“I don’t think Kohli should have batted at No.4. In the first match of the tour, you want to bat on the position you generally bat on. It is only when you have won a series, you take such chances,” Gavaskar said after the match.
