While it comes as no surprise that Egypt’s Mohamed Salah is a phenomenal player of the current era, his winning of the 2018 FIFA Puskas Award has left many a fans’ and pundits’ heads scratching.
In a year which saw both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kicks and Benjamin Pavard’s stunner against Argentina at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the decision of awarding Salah with the Puskas award is not sitting well with many.
We take a look at some of the tweets that the Twitterati put out voicing their opinion with some appreciating it and many questioning it:

👀 It's suggested that @Only1Argyle's Graham Carey scored five goals in 2018 which were better than Salah's Puskas Goal of the Year. #PAFC pic.twitter.com/8KQaonuibj

Here are the problems with FIFA Awards:
Mo Salah is nominated for best player but not in the world 11
Courtois is given best goalkeeper but isn't in World 11
Salah wins best goal when it isn't even his own best goal
Dani Alves in the world 11 #FIFAFootballAwards— BoyOfTheWild's (@BoyOfTheWilds) September 24, 2018
Still not sure how @MoSalah won @FIFAcom Best Goal of the Year over @Cristiano's goal vs. Juventus?! 🤔 Is this #Fifa trying to end the #Ronaldo – #Messi era?

Mad how Mo Salah is in the top 3 for Player of the Year but isn't in the World XI 😂😂😂

Mo' Salah just got compensated for with the PUSKAS award when his goal is clearly NOT up to scratch with that of Pavard Vs Argentina, CR7 Vs Juve or Gareth Bale Vs Liverpool.
This award is actually funny.#TheBest#FIFAFootballAwards

Mo Salah is probably given this award as compensation because that's the worst goal to win a Puskas ever #FIFAFootballAwards
